The Homeland Heroes Scholarship

Accepting Applications for Spring 2026

Having a parent in the military can be a great source of pride. Devoting yourself to the country demands hard work, and it is not always easy on families. At the Law Offices of Murphy & Price LLP, we want to pay tribute to the families of service members with the Homeland Heroes Scholarship.

This opportunity is open to the children of retired or active military service members. The winner of this scholarship will be awarded $1,000 to support his or her college education for the upcoming Spring 2026 semester. All applications must be submitted before 12/03/2025.

Who Can Apply?

We will only consider applicants who meet all of the following requirements:

  • You must be the child of a military veteran or an armed forces member.
  • You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • You must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate program within the United States for the Spring 2026 semester.
  • You must be at least 17 years old.
  • You must be a citizen of the United States.

What Do I Need to Include?

We ask that all applicants include a 1,000 word essay response to the following question:

What role should the military play in shaping our country’s future?
How should our military interact with the wider world?

Your essay should include citations from two reputable sources. Essays under 900 words or over 1,100 words will not be considered. Additionally, we ask that all applicants provide proof of their GPA and enrollment in a college or university.

How Will My Application Be Judged?

Your essay will be judged based on how well it meets the following criteria:

  • Do you provide a thoughtful and detailed response to the entire prompt?
  • Is the essay well-researched and organized?
  • Does the essay stand out amongst other submissions and use an original voice?

The winner of the Homeland Heroes Scholarship will be notified via email one month after the final deadline.
