Federal Practice OverviewOur attorneys have more than twenty years combined experience prosecuting and defending federal criminal cases in several federal jurisdictions throughout the United States. Federal criminal cases often involve activity in multiple States and federal districts, so it is often necessary for us to travel to represent our clients, and we are more than willing to do so. Additionally, there are several types of federal criminal cases in which we have particularized experience and training, such as cases involving the internet, as well as white collar crimes related to financial transactions and immigration, which require our assistance over multiple federal jurisdictions. Having extensive experience with military cases, extensive travel is periodically part of our practice. White Collar & Financial CrimesWe are often asked to represent persons who are under investigation for business related charges. One of our attorneys is a former Series 7 & 66 licensed securities dealer with experience dealing with issues related to those types of cases. Many of our cases have involved financial crimes such as bank fraud, securities fraud and deposit structuring. ADD ADDITIONAL OFFENSES. They have also included cases involving false statements to investigators, to which Government prosecutors often resort when they have insufficient evidence of other crimes. Internet Pornography CasesWe are most often asked to defend cases involving allegations of receipt or transfer of child pornography in interstate commerce prosecution of which the Department of Justice has made the very highest of priority in recent years. Defense of these cases requires specialized experience and knowledge regarding treatment of addiction, as well as familiarity with mandatory sentencing statues and the relevant provisions of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines and related legal authority. It can be most helpful in these types of cases particularly to retain the assistance of experienced counsel prior to the filing of charges given the large number of issues related to those guidelines and statutes that can be negotiated with prosecutors prior to indictment. Immigration OffensesOur attorneys also have extensive experience in defending immigration related offenses for which the Department of Justice has made a significant effort in recent years. In doing so, federal prosecutors have focused on targeting employers of illegal immigrants and, in addition to seeking imprisonment, have seized and forfeited the profits and proceeds of business which have harbored the use of illegal labor in generating those proceeds. These cases often involve additional charges alleging financial crimes and false statement charges related to immigration documents and forms. It is most important for any person under investigation for this type of case to retain the assistance of an attorney with experience in these cases. Military Courts Martial CasesThe experience of our attorneys includes having served for several years as a military prosecutor and defense counsel. We are therefore often asked to represent military service members before courts martial proceedings as civilian counsel. Civilian counsel in a military case can often be of invaluable assistance. Our experience in these cases includes everything in the spectrum of military cases from defending drug urinalysis charges at special courts martial to successfully defending a murder case in a general courts martial case. |
