Annapolis, Maryland, Criminal Defense LawyerI started my legal career more than 20 years ago as a prosecutor and defense attorney in court martial cases. I was a member of the Navy Judge Advocate General Corps, prosecuting and defending military personnel charged with sex crimes, drug charges, and other types of court martial offenses. I also served for two years on the legal staff for the Superintendent of the Naval Academy in Annapolis. Today, I focus my practice exclusively on the defense of people charged with criminal offenses. I represent people facing state and federal charges such as DUI, sex charges, criminal traffic offenses, drug charges, theft, and white collar crime throughout Maryland. I also represent military personnel stationed in Maryland, San Diego, Norfolk, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Cases involving criminal offenses often involve complex legal and scientific evidence issues. I have found that many of the cases I have won over the years have been those in which I have had the best expert witnesses. I have used expert witnesses such as forensic psychiatrists and forensic pathologists in sex crimes, gun cases, murder cases, and drunk-driving cases. I also have considerable experience handling criminal cases involving false confession. When confronted by an aggressive investigator, many people confess to crimes they didn’t commit, or which the prosecutor could not prove without a confession. In some cases, the confession may be contradicted by physical evidence in the case. I have been successful using expert witnesses to suppress false confessions. Once the confession is suppressed, it cannot be used against the defendant. Free consultation: Contact Annapolis, Maryland, criminal defense attorney J.
